The main tunneling works will commence from the International City 1 Station, with three Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) being deployed towards Mirdif, the Auto Market, and Al Warsan.

The TBMs, provided by Germany’s CREG Wirth, are expected to achieve excavation rates of 13 to 17 meters per day. Additionally, construction of a 1.3-kilometer viaduct over Dubai Creek has begun, marking the first metro crossing above the creek.

The Blue Line is set to feature iconic stations designed with unique themes, such as air, water, earth, and fire. Notably, the Dubai Creek Harbour station, designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), will be the tallest metro station in the world at 74 meters, accommodating up to 160,000 passengers daily.

The International City (1) station is projected to become the largest underground interchange station in the Dubai Metro network, with the capacity to handle 350,000 passengers daily.
